NOTE: If you require someone to weld on the new bracket (UK) please contact Ian at ETTO motorcycles on 07757529203 He is in possession of TTW jigs for fitment to a bare frame.Rear bracket for the RGV VJ22 rear shock. If yours has cracked it can be difficult to weld due to the nature of the extruded material. This bracket CNC made in the UK from 6082 and can be welded into place of the original.
Good weldable aluminium alloys are normally 5xxx series but this is too soft for the bracket application.
If we used 7xxx series (which is the ideal material for the bracket) then you will need to heat treat the component.
As we use 6xxx series aluminium then you wouldn't normally heat treat the component.
You need to use 4043 wire if you are welding 6xxx series to 6xxx and if you are welding 6xxx series to 7xxx then you would use 5356 rod. (Unlikely the frame is made from 7005)
Typically Aluminium extrusions are either 6082 or 6083 .... so 6082 welded with 4043 rods is the best solution for this application
